While each animal and its circumstances are a little different, the following guidelines are recommended for how much to feed per captive animal per day:

• Horses. 1.5-2% of their body weight (since most riding horses are between 700 and 1200 pounds, that means 10-24 pounds of feed per day.)
• Cows. 2-3% of their body weight
• Llamas. 2-4% of their body weight
• Alpacas. 1.5-2% of their body weight
• Goats. 1.5% of their body weight
• Elephants. 10% of their body weight
